SOGO Holiday Show

Thurston County is full of opportunity for those with a passion for music & arts. Just visit downtown Olympia & the beautiful Washington Center for the Performing Arts and you will see what we mean.

Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia, better known as SOGO, has been a driving force in the community when it comes to promoting youth musicians and music in the community. Currently in their 17th season, SOGO has 140 young musicians from over 30 schools in four counties.

In her spare time, our own Jeanne Tranum, serves on the SOGO board. With a musician in the family she couldn’t help but get more involved in the non-profit organization that her daughter, Emma, values so much. For Emma, a French Horn player, being a member of a large orchestra has been a challenging & rewarding experience. In addition, she is fortunate to be a member of SOGO’s Brass Choir.

The annual SOGO HOHO Holiday Show, Saturday December 9th at 2:00, features the Brass Choir musicians from both Academy & Conservatory Orchestra’s. This concert is a fun, festive event & a perfect way to kick off the holiday season. This years’ program, “Home for the Holidays”, features several special guests; Elliot Weeks, Anna Garrett & Mayor Selby with special arrangements by Composer, Mark Thome.
