We are thrilled to announce our 2018 Inspirational Educator Award winner, Blue Peetz. Blue runs the Freedom Farm/GRUB for the Olympia School District and was nominated for the award by our first-place winner Kai Chapin. Kai wrote such a touching nomination letter, best shared in her words:
Dear Blue:
When I was told I could choose an inspiring educator to give $500 to, I got more excited to nominate you than when they told me I won myself. I don’t know anymore else more deserving. I feel like I can never pay you back for all that you’ve given me. The work you do on this farm and with every person connected to it is debilitating, thankless, and incredibly humble. You’ve been a life-source for me and numerous other kids like me. You are patient and never give up on me. You are a natural leader and are strong without being hyper-masculine. You don’t scare people, you inspire them and make changing the world look easy. The number of souls you touch will continue to grow for the rest of your time in this life and I feel immensely fortunate to have been one of those people. Thank you so much!
